Kitware’s 2023 Open Door Scholarship Recipient
Kitware did not have to look far to find its 2023 Open Door Scholarship Recipient. Just over nine miles from Kitware’s Clifton Park, NY headquarters sits Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, the alma mater of our 2023 recipient of our Open Door Scholarship: Gabrielle Duplan.
Kitware launched this scholarship program in 2021 to help create a more diverse and inclusive workplace and, ultimately, make a difference in the computing industry. The Open Door Scholarship program is for Black and African American high school seniors pursuing a degree in computer science.
Gabrielle received a $5,000 scholarship for the 2023/2024 academic school year. She is entering her second year at SUNY University at Albany, majoring in Computer Science. The scholarship can be renewed annually for a total of $20,000 over four years. In addition to the funds, Gabrielle is returning this summer to intern at our Clifton Park location. She is working with our Data and Analytics Team, connecting her academic studies with real world experience. That experience can prove crucial to advancing a career in software engineering.
The selection criteria for this program are predominately based on academic merit. Gabrielle demonstrated a passion for science and technology, as well as strong work in the classroom. Applications for the 2025 Open Door Scholarship will be accepted starting in January. For more information, visit kitware.com/scholarships.
