Kitware Welcomes New Team Members

According to Peter Block in Community: The Structure of Belonging, “Possiblity creates something new.” At Kitware, we collaborate with our customers and technical communities to pursue novel ideas that challenge the status quo. As a result, we are driving innovation through open-source software and state-of-the-art technology.

Over the past four months, we have witnessed significant growth and are pleased to welcome many new team members. Eighteen new Kitwareans have joined our technical and support teams, representing growth in all three of our U.S. locations, as well as in Lyon, France. Please see the end of this post for a brief bio for each new team member.

We are growing not only in size, but also in our development of software solutions. In particular, we are delivering open-source computer vision technologies through KWIVER; we are enhancing HPC visualization and data processing through advances in parallel computing, simulation-workflow integration, and in situ analysis; we are expanding in data and analytics through our participation in collaborative programs such as DARPA Memex; and we are making an impact in the field of medical computing through the recent release of ITK 4.8.

To keep up with our rapid development, we are currently seeking to hire software developers and researchers who will work on building and advancing world-changing software solutions. We have an immediate need for the following positions is the U.S.:

Sreekanth Arikatla is an R&D engineer on Kitware’s Medical Computing team in Carrboro. He received his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka and his M.S. and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Prior to joining Kitware, Sreekanth was a postdoctoral research associate at the Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Imaging in Medicine at RPI.

Jimmy Chen rejoins Kitware’s Clifton Park office as a Scientific Computing intern. Jimmy is currently working on his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at Ohio State University (OSU).

Stephen Demos is an intern who rejoins Kitware’s Computer Vision team in Clifton Park, NY. Steve is pursuing a degree in Rochester Institute of Technology’s computer science program.

Jeremy Ford is a business development intern in Carrboro, NC. Jeremy received his B.S. in Biology, with minors in chemistry and entrepreneurship, from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). He is currently pursuing his MBA at the university’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is also working on his MD at the university’s School of Medicine.

Alexis Girault joins the Carrborro office as an R&D intern on the Medical Computing team. Alexis is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Computer Science from CPE Lyon Engineering School in France. He is completing part of his studies at the University of Montréal in Canada as a graduate exchange student.

David Hughes is an R&D engineer on the Computer Vision team. He joins Kitware in Clifton Park. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from RPI. Prior to joining Kitware, David was a Fellow at RPI 3Helix.

Chris Kotfila is located in Kitware’s Clifton Park office as an R&D engineer on the Scientific Computing team. He received his B.S. in Computer Science and Philosphy from RPI and his MSIS in Library and Information Sciences from the University at Albany-SUNY, where he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Informatics.

Schuyler Kylstra is now a full-time employee on Kitware’s Medical Computing team in Carrboro, NC. Schuyler was previously an intern in the Carrboro office. Schuyler received his B.S. in Mathematics and his B.A. in Physics from UNC-CH. He is currently finishing his M.S. in Computer Science.

Dan LaManna is an R&D engineer on the Scientific Computing team. He joins Kitware in Clifton Park. Dan received his B.S. in Computer Science from the University at Albany-SUNY. Prior to joining Kitware, Dan was a research programmer at The Research Foundation for The State University of New York.

Preston Law joins Kitware in Clifton Park as a Computer Vision intern. He is a computer science major at Brown University.

Bailey Naples is Kitware’s Manager of Compliance and Audit. She is working in the Clifton Park office. Bailey received her B.S. in Professional Accounting from the State University College of Oneonta. Prior to joining Kitware, Bailey was a Senior In-Charge Associate at KPMG.

Jonathan Owens joins Kitware as an R&D enginner on the Computer Vision team in Clifton Park. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Texas and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Prior to joining Kitware, Jonathan was an associate software engineer at Auto/Mate Dealership Systems.

Omar Padron is a Scientific Computing intern in Carrboro. Omar received his B.S. in Science and Technology, as well as his M.S. in Computational Mathematics, from Kean University.

Jason Parham joins Kitware in Clifton Park as an R&D intern on the Computer Vision team. Jason received his B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Pepperdine University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Computer Vision at RPI.

Max Smolens becomes a member of the Medical Computing team in Carrboro. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and his M.S. in Computer Science from UNC-Chapel Hill. Prior to joining Kitware, Max was a Senior Software Engineer at 3D Systems (formerly Geomagic).

Dylan Wang is a Scientific Computing intern. He is located in the Clifton Park office. Dylan is working toward his B.S. in Computer Science at the University of California, Davis.

Mathieu Westphal joins Kitware in Lyon, France, as an R&D engineer. He received an undergraduatge degree in engineering from Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon (INSA Lyon) and a graduate degree from École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS Lyon). Mathieu brings experience working on different projects regarding adaptive optics, ray tracing in large data sets, and visualization pipelines.

Tristan Wright is an R&D engineer on the Scientific Computing team in Santa Fe. Tristan received his B.A. in Computer Science from Earlham College. Prior to joining Kitware, Tristan was a Web and Exhibit Developer at Ideum.
