Kitware Secures $2.2M Phase II Contract to Develop Tools that Support Responsible AI Adoption Across the Department of Defense

Kitware is enhancing its AI testing and evaluation tools to address the need for explainable AI solutions for defense applications

Clifton Park, N.Y. (November 7, 2024) – Kitware, a leader in advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision, is proud to announce the award of a $2.2 million contract for Phase II of the Chief Digital and AI Office’s (CDAO) Joint AI Test Infrastructure Capability (JATIC) program. The new contract extends Kitware’s work on developing and enhancing tools that support responsible AI adoption across the Department of Defense (DoD).

Kitware will continue its work on the Explainable AI Toolkit (XAITK) and Natural Robustness Toolkit, both of which are critical to AI assurance. These open source toolkits are designed to improve the transparency and robustness of AI systems, with a focus on computer vision applications. This ongoing effort will help streamline AI testing and evaluation processes across the DoD, in alignment with ethical AI principles.
