Clifton Park, N.Y. (January 8, 2025) – Kitware proudly announces the promotion of 24 team members whose exceptional work continues to drive innovation and impact across a variety of fields. These advancements highlight Kitware’s commitment to fostering talent and expertise across its teams.
Principal Promotions
Ashley Carbino
Contracts Principal, Contracts
Ashley, a key member of Kitware’s Contracts Team since 2019, excels in navigating complex contracts and regulatory challenges. Promoted to senior contracts administrator in 2023, she manages the full life cycle of awards, including negotiation and compliance. Her expertise in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) terms and ability to streamline processes enable Kitware to secure new customers and contract vehicles. Ashley’s contributions have been vital to the success of challenging projects and the growth of Kitware’s contracting capabilities.
Brian Hu
Technical Leader, Computer Vision
Brian joined Kitware’s Computer Vision Team in 2020 and was promoted to staff R&D engineer in 2023. With expertise in ethical AI, computer vision, and natural language processing, he has led impactful projects like the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) XAI program, which produced the Explainable AI Toolkit (XAITK), and CDAO JATIC, now in Phase 2. Brian also contributes to DARPA ITM, developing human-aligned decision-making tools. His leadership and research drive innovation in AI, advancing Kitware’s capabilities and collaborative culture.

Jocelyn Adams
Compliance Analyst, Compliance
Jocelyn joined Kitware in 2020 and has been promoted for her outstanding contributions. She streamlined Kitware’s training content, improved Kitware’s internal training platform, and is a key contributor to the property management and audit process. She will now expand her internal audit work, focusing on process improvements. Jocelyn’s expertise and dedication are invaluable to Kitware’s success.
Brooke Arpey
Senior HR Generalist, HR
Since joining Kitware in June 2019, Brooke has been a valued member of the HR team. She supports employees with benefits administration, manages onboarding and offboarding, and ensures smooth transitions for new hires. Brooke’s dedication helps create a positive experience for all employees.
Bryon Bean
Senior Financial Systems Engineer, Finance
Bryon, who joined Kitware in 2017 as an R&D engineer, has been promoted for his critical work on Kitware’s internal database, KWiK. He has led key development efforts, improved system reliability, and expanded KWiK’s capabilities. Bryon is an expert in GraphQL, MySQL, and Elasticsearch, driving continuous improvements for KWiK.
Ebrahim Ebrahim
Staff R&D Engineer, Medical Computing
Ebrahim joined Kitware’s Medical Computing Team in 2021. He has made impactful contributions to advance medical image processing and software development. Ebrahim has led projects in neuroimaging, surgical guidance, and commercial innovation, using deep learning to develop solutions that improve healthcare outcomes.
David Edsforth
Senior Contracts Administrator, Contracts
Dave joined Kitware’s Contracts Team in 2020 with over 12 years of experience in government and commercial proposals, contracts, and grants. With a master’s of law degree, he brings valuable expertise and adaptability to the team. Dave’s promotion reflects his readiness to take on greater responsibilities and new challenges.
Shreeraj Jadhav
Staff R&D Engineer, Medical Computing
Shreeraj joined Kitware’s Medical Computing Team in 2021. He has made important contributions to Kitware’s medical visualization and simulation projects. His efforts include customizing 3D Slicer, developing open source tools like VolView and vtk.js, and building advanced cross-platform desktop and web-based visualization applications for research collaborators and commercial customers.
Forrest Li
Staff R&D Engineer, Data and Analytics
Since Forrest joined Kitware in 2017, he has led several commercial initiatives as a project manager and technical lead, delivering innovative solutions and supporting customer success. Forrest also helped develop VolView and enhanced platforms like vtk.js and itk-wasm for broader use.
Roxanne Little
HR Generalist, Human Resources
Roxanne joined Kitware in 2021. She is being recognized for her excellent work in talent acquisition, including sourcing, interviewing, and offer management. Brianna Major
Senior R&D Engineer, Data and Analytics
Brianna joined Kitware in 2019 as an R&D engineer, focusing on chemistry and microscopy projects. She is building expertise in machine and reinforcement learning and led development for Kitware’s guided labeling project, managing collaborator interactions and integrating pathologist feedback into innovative features.
Dennis Melamed
Senior R&D Engineer, Computer Vision
Dennis joined Kitware’s Computer Vision Team in August 2021. He has made impactful contributions to projects like star tracking and battle damage assessment. He recently led a successful customer demonstration of an inspection system that can be used to detect defects on aircraft.
Nitesh Menon
Senior R&D Engineer, Computer Vision
Since joining Kitware in 2020, Nitesh has contributed to key government projects that involve media forensics and event-based sensing and tracking for satellites. He has also developed innovative algorithms and tools, including the Person of Interest (POI) deep fake video detection tool.
Tom Osika
Senior R&D Engineer, Medical Computing
Tom joined Kitware in 2020 as part of Kitware’s Open Source Software Technology Program, which allowed him to complete his master’s degree in computer science in 2023. Since joining the Medical Computing Team full-time, Tom has contributed to various commercial projects and research programs, consistently delivering impactful R&D solutions.
Jaswant Panchumarti
Senior R&D Engineer, Scientific Computing
Since joining Kitware in 2022, Jaswant has made impactful contributions to VTK and ParaView. He advanced VTK’s WebAssembly and WebGPU capabilities, gaining customer support for future-ready web and desktop rendering. Jaswant excels in customer collaboration and drives innovation across diverse projects, including nuclear fusion modeling.
John Parent
Senior R&D Engineer, Software Solutions
John joined Kitware in 2020 through Kitware’s Open Source Software Technology Program, completing his master’s in computer science in 2023. Now a full-time member of the Software Solutions Team, he has led the Spack on Windows effort and has become an expert at creating sustainable build workflows for customers some examples include GNU Radio and Gpt4all.
Jason Parham
Staff R&D Engineer, Computer Vision
Jason rejoined Kitware’s Computer Vision team in 2022 after earning his Ph.D. He has since contributed significantly to Kitware’s government projects. He optimized object detection pipelines for performance and explainability and led the development of a system for rapid object detection and tracking in large MWIR videos.
Barry Ravichandran
Senior R&D Engineer, Computer Vision
Barry joined Kitware’s Computer Vision team in 2021 after interning in 2020. He has contributed to diverse government and medical AI projects, applying his expertise in software engineering and machine learning. Barry’s versatility and collaborative approach make him a key contributor to his team’s success.
Spiros Tsalikis
Senior R&D Engineer, Scientific Computing
Spiros joined Kitware in 2021 as an intern and became a full-time R&D engineer in 2022. He has enhanced ParaView and VTK with key contributions, including shared memory parallel algorithms which earned recognition at the 2024 Eurographics Symposium. Spiros also collaborates directly with customers to investigate and resolve complex challenges.
Michael VanDenburgh
Senior R&D Engineer, Data and Analytics
Since Michael joined Kitware in 2020, he has contributed to projects spanning medical computing, computer vision, scientific computing, and software systems. He architected backends for medical applications, integrated computer vision platforms into web applications, and developed a Spack staging environment with DevOps best practices, enabling Windows builds.
Emily Veenhuis
Senior R&D Engineer, Computer Vision
Emily joined Kitware’s Computer Vision team in 2021 after interning in 2020. She has made impactful contributions to several government-funded projects, working with agencies such as AFRL, DARPA, and NIH. Emily has been undertaking more leading roles, showcasing her growing impact across vision and medical computing projects.
Chaz Weatherford
Senior Contracts Administrator, Contracts
Chaz has been with Kitware since 2012. He has worked on a wide range of proposals and is valued for his expertise in this area. He ensures proposal timelines stay on track and compliant proposals are submitted on time, contributing significantly to the success of Kitware’s projects.
Corey Wetterer-Nelson
Staff R&D Engineer, Scientific Computing
Corey joined Kitware in 2021 and has made improvements to CMB, Catalyst, VTK, and ParaView. As a key contributor to the ECP project, he integrated Catalyst with the U.S. Department of Energy’s simulation codes. He now leads Kitware’s Catalyst efforts, including SBIRs for the U.S. Department of Defense and NASA.
Flori Yellin
Staff R&D Engineer, Computer Vision
Flori joined Kitware in 2020 after finishing her Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University. She has contributed to a range of projects for U.S. government agencies. Flori also actively contributes to work that is presented at prestigious computer vision conferences, including WACV and ICPR, and has co-authored several accepted papers.
