Resources for Candidates
We aim to make your interview and onboarding process as smooth as possible. With this in mind, we’ve compiled some resources to help you prepare for your onsite interview. We’ve also included some helpful information for those candidates who are considering relocating to one of our areas.
Preparing for Your Onsite Interview
As part of your onsite interview, you’ll give a one-hour presentation (including Q&A) that gives us a chance to learn about your background, work history, and your skills and experience as it relates to the position. This also helps you think about how well you fit with the role and the company. If you happen to get the jitters beforehand, remember that everyone at Kitware has been in your shoes and done this same type of presentation, so we designed this to be a positive experience for you!
Here are some tools and tips to help you prepare for your presentation:
When you first arrive
A member of our support team will help you set up your computer, connect to our wifi, and get your presentation ready to share
What we’d like to hear about
We are interested in the projects you’ve worked on. Most importantly we’d like a clear statement of the problem you were trying to solve, why it was important, and your role in solving it.
Don’t be afraid to ask us questions
We aim to have engaging discussions, so feel free to ask us questions after the presentation. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet with many of the members of the group for individual interviews throughout the day.
Take advantage of online resources
There are many resources online for preparing and giving presentations. If this is new for you, we suggest looking into best practices as part of your preparation, including how to create engaging slides, practicing your presentation beforehand, etc.

Our Ideal Candidates
Wondering what qualities and qualifications we are looking for in our next Kitwarean? Here’s what makes for a great candidate:
- Software developers should look into our open source toolkits. We love when we find candidates who are familiar with the tools we’ve developed and use!
- We are particularly interested in your open source commit history (code you’ve written or modified yourself, then contributed back to a community). This is the most powerful resume.
- Researchers should have strong publication record in your related field, machine learning, or related conferences. We are active organizers of many industry conferences and love to see candidates who care about the community.
- Candidates who are passionate about our mission become our best employees at all levels. We believe in positive social impact through computer vision, medical computing, scientific computing, machine learning research and development, and software and development across many domains
