Cameron Cinel

Cameron Cinel, Ph.D. is a senior R&D engineer on Kitware’s Computer Vision Team. He is involved in developing and optimizing algorithms for various projects, leveraging his expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive innovation and improve existing solutions.

Prior to joining Kitware, Cameron was an artificial intelligence intern at Insmed Inc., where he created a custom Q&A system using fine-tuned large language models on a database that contained thousands of files. He deployed this model as a bot hosted on AWS and integrated it with Microsoft Teams to enhance user experience. Cameron also implemented user feedback and retraining systems, which improved the model’s accuracy by 10%.

In academia, Cameron served as a teaching assistant and instructor at the University of California, San Diego. Over the course of his tenure, he led more than 50 discussion sections and developed materials for classes in calculus, linear algebra, and real analysis.

Cameron holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California, San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, with a minor in physics, from the University of Southern California.
