Andrew Howe is an R&D engineer on Kitware’s Medical Computing Team. He develops software in C++ for Kitware’s research systems, and he is interested in using statistics to improve Kitware’s applications.
Prior to joining Kitware, Andrew was a staff associate at the Andrea Califano Lab at Columbia University Medical Center. Collaborating with resident physicians and Ph.D. students, he focused on statistical method development and employed machine learning to analyze and interpret biological data. Andrew also led the implementation of an algorithm that uses information theory to reverse engineer gene regulatory networks.
Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Columbia University’s undergraduate engineering school (SEAS) and in biochemistry from Dickinson College. Despite his roots in software, Andrew enjoys applying methods in science and quantitative fields such as math & statistics.
