Andrew Howe is an R&D engineer on Kitware’s Medical Computing Team. He develops software in C++ for Kitware’s research systems, and he is interested in using statistics to improve Kitware’s applications.

Collaborating with resident physicians and Ph.D. students, he focused on statistical method development and employed machine learning to analyze and interpret biological data. Andrew also led the development of a C++ codebase implementing an algorithm that uses information theory to reverse-engineer gene regulatory networks.

Prior to joining Kitware, Andrew was a staff associate at the Andrea Califano Lab at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Andrew graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science in 2023 and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Dickinson College in 2021. Despite his undergraduate focus in software development, Andrew enjoys learning about topics in science and quantitative fields such as math & statistics.
